But later, as the Eleven were at table, he appeared to them and rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart because they had not believed those who saw him after he had been raised. He said to them, “Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.” (Mk 16:9-15)

The Longer Ending to Mark’s gospel (16:9-15) is definitely NOT a part of the original gospel. It is a résumé of appearance stories from other gospels (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_16). The interesting part is that the Risen Lord rebukes the Eleven for their unbelief and hardness of heart. Maybe there’s a message for all of us.
These reflections are a result of more than 40 years of ministry as a Roman Catholic priest. Most of these years I spent in the Diocese of Charlotte which covers Western North Carolina. Now I am retired, and live in Medellín, Colombia where I continue to serve as a priest in the Archdiocese of Medellín.
